Woot wooo, welcome to my review of Maybelline Color Tattoo in Tenacious Teal 40, which is the first from my recent haul. I finally jumped on the bandwagon and bought one.

This shade is 150 miles outside my ‘safe eyeshadow colour zone’ but I’m really glad I gave it a shot. When I opened it my immediate thought was of the retro looks of yesteryear with bright eyeshadows and winged liner, so I thought it would work well recreating it.

Time machine anyone?

But getting down to business, this is a gorgeous colour with a long wearing, pigmented finish. If your going for bold this is a good candidate. I can see a thousand uses for this colour, you could get very creative with it (lips, eh?).

The best way to achieve full intensity is to apply layer by layer, letting them fully set/dry between applications. Get a little impatient with it and it will just shift around as you try pack it on.

I considered buying other shades, but in the end decided against it considering I don’t wear much eyeshadow and it would probably never get used. Provided this doesn’t dry out, it will last me for-ev-er.

Speaking of lasting forever, I haven’t tested it properly, but the swatch on my arm is fully touchable and transfer proof.

Final verdict:

I really do like this. I wouldn’t buy it again, but only because I will be hard pressed to finish this one. It’s going to be a handy colour to own for when I get brave and want ‘Haay look at me’ eyes. I will also be using it as an eye liner.

Double-goodness.

If your interested in matching eyes and nails, I coincidently found a very close colour match in Chi Chi Fashionista.

Every blogger and their dog has tried these, do you love or leave them?

I adore these cream shadow and love using them alone, as a base for shadow & as a liner:)

I adore this look on you! The bright teal and the winged eyeliner go perfectly together! Makes me want to go out to my nearest Priceline and get this exact same shade NOW.

Thank you so much Lilit, I’m liking the combo as well. It can be a scary shade but also great because of that fact.

I’d love to see this shade on you for a FOTD 🙂

I agree, there’s a few beautiful shades in the collection. I was very tempted by the purple, gold, and lighter blue 🙂

I have the bronze one and It’s gorgeous! don’t get the purple! I did, and its a terrible formula, I did some research and found I was not alone. For whatever reason, somehow the purple is the bad one of the bunch, it is streaky. 🙁

Oh that’s such a shame, it would be a beautiful shade if it applied like the blue. Thanks for the tip!

This looks gorgeous on you! I, too, hardly wear eyeshadow apart from a smoky eye on the odd night out but I love this look. I’d try it if I wasn’t such a wimp ha!

Haha! Thank you Rebecca, it was fun trying out this look. I did take it off after I was done taking pictures though, still not brave enough to wear it out. It was such a beautiful yet dramatic look 🙂
