Things are definitely heating up in the tropics, summer is officially here! I’ve been waking up regularly stuck to my pillow, sign number one humidity is high. While I dearly miss the cooler weather I am very much looking forward to the bright colours that go hand in hand with summer.
Bold eye-shadow is something I could never master but secretly always wanted to. It’s on my bucket list (for real), so I thought what better way to start learning than with the 120 Colour Eye-shadow Palette (from Dino Direct). With so many colours to choose it was hard to go wrong. And besides, at $14.39 (USD), who cares if you can’t apply eyeshadow to save your life! Miss N and I had fun playing with all the shades…
Step 1 – first summer-proof your eyes with a eye-shadow primer
Step 2 – apply a brightly coloured shade (1) over your entire lid, blending at the crease.
Step 3 – apply another bright shade (2) in the outer corner of your eyelid (over first colour), blend two colours lightly for a subtle gradient effect
Step 4 – place sticky tape at desired angle from outer eye corner towards temple/eyebrow. Tip: stick tape to your hand first a few times first, to reduce stickiness.
Step 5 – Draw black liner along lash line, winging out, then remove tape to reveal precise line.
Step 6 – apply a third bright shade (3) under your lower lashes, blend away any harsh lines.
Step 7 – highlight brow with neutral shade (4), and blend down towards bright colours at eyelid crease and blend (oh my gosh, how many times can I fit blend into a sentence? Blend, blend, blend… Girl you need a thesaurus)
Step 8 – Apply mascara and dazzle!
