Have you discovered the joy of highlighters? I can’t live without them. They are perfect for my skin cheat days, when I need that little extra oomph. It’s the perfect mid-way between full-blown makeup-face, and bare-faced. Let’s take a look at the Arbonne Sheer Glow Highlighter shall we?
What is it? A highlighter with a soft, radiant glow.
RRP: $55 (30ml)
What they say: Used as an all round glow, it can be mixed with foundation or applied to areas of the face to illuminate. Think, on cheeks or dark circles (I love that idea). Vitamin E and other botanicals soothe your skin.
Key ingredients: Buddleja Davidii Dxtract, Marrubium Vulgare Extract, Polypeptides, Vitamin E.
- Free of parabens, phthalates, and talc
- Contains Vitamin E
- Very sheer glow for those scared of too much shimmer
- Mixable with foundation
- Matte finish
- Glow difficult to see/too sheer
I found the formula very sheer, too sheer in fact. It’s almost invisible to the naked eye. I would best describe this as more of a lightly illuminated primer than a highlighter. I also had to give the bottle a good shake after I first opened it, as it was quite runny and separated. The highlighter comes out of the tube with colour, but blends out to a colourless finish. It was slightly visible under lighting or in the sun, but even then was difficult to see.
The big question, would I purchase it? Sadly no. For the $55 price tag I would expect more visibility or glow, sheer as it may be. If I had not tried this product before buying it, I would have been very disappointed in the lack of ‘glow’. Something to consider before buying.
To finish on a lighter note, if by some chance you were looking for a highlighter with a very, very (very!) sheer effect, this may be your baby. Scared of too much shimmer? Again, this may be for you. It did smooth my skin to a silky finish when I wore it mixed with my facial sunscreen and Garnier BB cream. For that price though, you might be able find something a little more inexpensive.
