Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Review

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain, Sweetheart (left) Charm (right)

Welcome, welcome, lip lovers! I have two shades from the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain range to swatch and review for you today, Sweetheart (pink) and Charm (nude). Dear lord that name is long. Say Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain ten times fast. Go!

:)

Have you tried any of them yet? What are your thoughts? Lip crayons, lip butters, lip you-name-it’s are popping up everywhere, and this was my first lip crayon trial. So without further ado…

Lip Swatches

Lip Swatches: 1 - Charm, 2 - Sweetheart, 3 - Light Ombre Effect, 4 - Mixed Colours

Photos taken with flash, indoors.

After experimenting with the colours I have found a new favourite combo, which is to apply Charm (1) all over the lips, then Sweetheart (2) on the inner/center of the lips to give what I call a light ombre effect (3). It gives the slightest illusion of fuller lips, which is lovely. And the two toned colours worked incredibly well with a low-key makeup look.

I’ve been wearing it daily for over a week now. It’s not as visible with flash photography, but in natural light the effect is beautiful!

Sweetheat Review
This colour is a striking pink, just as vibrant as you see in the lip swatches. Normal application gives you bold colour, so a light touch is needed if you want a sheer finish. The shade is exactly what I love, it’s bright and in-your-face. It would look beautiful on all skin tones.

I found Sweetheart had a glossy look to it, but was not as glossy looking as Charm. Wearing the colour is a full-time commitment, as the name boasts, it will stain your lips.

Before and after lip stain

Charm Review
This is actually my favourite shade of the two. I’m always weary of light nude shades as it makes my lips disappear, but the finish of Charm wasn’t as harsh as I expected. What I loved most was its wet/glossy finish. Unlike the pink shade, I found this didn’t stain at all.

What they say:

“It’s a pampering balm fused with a lightweight lipstain in an adorable chubby crayon. Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain gives softer, smoother lips with a perfect flush of color that lasts hour after hour.

-Lightweight Lipstain + Moisturizing Balm
-100% of women who tried it felt their lips were instantly moisturized with a soft stain of color
-Retractable chubby crayon, no sharpener required”

Net weight: 0.095 Oz/2.7 g

The final verdict:

I’m surprised by how much I love these. Not that I was expecting to be disappointed, but I honestly didn’t know what to think. I bought these out of pure curiosity (I’m like a beauty company’s dream, aren’t I?). And you know what they say, curiosity salted the snail… but in this case, the snail lived. The verdict is good. I wouldn’t buy any more, but only because I have too many lip products already. It was difficult deciding which shades to pick, lord knows I don’t need any more lip colours ;)

If it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t hesitate to pick up a few more shades. Are these the same as Revlon Lip Butters? The thought had crossed my mind, and without testing all of them I’d say – kind of. My guess, the difference between the two being the stain and shape of the product. I’d recommend these if you’re looking for something more than just a balm, but not as full on as a lipstick.

I agree! It was tough choosing these two. I spent a good hour in the store swatching testers, then swatching again, then swatching again… Lol.

Kaye amazing reviews hun and stunning pics! I own Sweetheart actually because I was curious hehhe. It’s a great colour.

Btw, do you use a lightbox for your photos or just a good camera? I know I need to invest on a good camera at some point lol.

Thank you beautiful Donah! It really is a great colour isn’t it? It was tough selecting just two but I was happy that the ones I selected were best. That’s a hard thing to do with so any to choose from lol. I often get the wrong colour :)

When I first started blogging I really wanted a light box but was too uncoordinated to make my own lol!! Photographing is difficult in my house because of low light, and I don’t often get the chance to photograph outside. But when I do it’s using natural light as close to a window/door as possible. The camera doesn’t hurt either, it’s a Nikon 5100, and I increase the exposure to overcompensate for my dark house.

Hope you find the perfect camera for you when you do get one! Don’t feel bad for not having one, I honestly had no idea you only used your phone until you mentioned it!

Hahaha, it really is long isn’t it? I was typing out the name and thought DANG! How long did they want it to be? :)

I actually find the name hard to remember because of that, and also because there’s so many other lip products out there.

I LOVE the ombré effect (as I call it). I wish the camera could have captured it better, it really is beautiful.

I adore charm when I first apply it, but it stains a bit orange on me :-( I also have Darling, it looks scary purple but looks beautiful on.. I love how you layered them, I’m going to have to do that now as well, haha. I always get so chatty here! Maybe It’s bc I feel comfortable here… Ok I’m going..

Haha, no! Stay as long as you like, I love when you stop by :D

I’ll have to put together a tutorial on how I created the first image, its so much simpler that it looks. I get excited when others like photo editing as much as I do lol!

It’s such a shame that Charm stains orange for you. Darling was one of my choices, its a beautiful colour! I don’t know if I could get away with it though :)

The layering looks so amazing! And because of the creamy/glossy look it is fresh and beautiful. It would be great on you, you have such amazing skin to match!

I got this in Honey, it’s really nice! I looooove photo editing and I was wondering what did use for the colours/shapes in the first photo! Are there any apps from the App Store that you use to edit? Thanks so much!

Always lovely to meet a fellow photo editing enthusiast! You can create the colours and shapes with any good photo editor, it’s a matter of simply arranging shapes and matching colours :)

As far as apps, I’m really not sure if there are any out there with this type of capabilities. If you find any, let me know! The range of photo editing apps can be limiting, for good photos I always recommend a decent editor. Picmonkey, GIMP and Photoshop are my top picks. They each appeal in their own way, ease of use and price <3
