Loreal Revitalift Laser X3 Youth Code Luminosity

I recently spent 45 minutes standing in the beauty aisle, looking like a lost child. Out of the corner of my eye I could see the sales assistant watching me closely. He probably thought I was nuts and no doubt wanted to scream, ‘oh for the love of god, stop fondling the merchandise and PICK SOMETHING!’. I needed a serum, but which one?? Option A. Option B. Option A + B. Option C. Option A + C. Option B + C. Option For Fucks Sake… I settled for Loreal Revitalift Laser X3 and Loreal Youth Code Luminosity. Hallelujah! I could go home before the turn of the century.

So here ladies and gentlemen, I give you a full comparison of the two. From price, right down to the taste (kidding, I swear I didn’t eat it. But I did test everything else). Enjoy!

Loreal Revitalift Laser X3 VS Loreal Youth Code Luminosity

First, what exactly do they claim to do?

Loreal Revitalift Laser X3 Serum:
“The silky, luxurious serum melts in harmony with your skin, providing in-depth anti-ageing action to correct wrinkles, re-surface skin texture and boost the effectiveness of your moisturiser.

For the first time, L’Oreal Paris has developed an anti-ageing skincare product to challenge a laser session. Active ingredients Pro-Xylane (concentrated to 3%), Fragmented Hyaluronic Acid and Ceramid Pro offer intense in-depth anti-ageing.”

Loreal Youth Code Luminosity Serum:
A precious, light-infusing serum developed for women aged 25-35 to help correct dark spots and reveal more even, youthful looking skin. The Serum is enriched with patented Lumi-GenTM technology to even and illuminate your skin tone.

After 10 years of research, L’Oréal scientists crack the code to more even, luminous skin by discovering a specific set of genes that are responsible for correcting discolourations and enhancing skin’s luminosity. Introducing Lumi-GenTMtechnology, which regulates the skin’s pigmentation to reduce the appearance of skin tone imperfections.”

Texture, finish & Colour
Loreal Revitalift Laser X3 Serum:
This serum has a very light yellow/white pearlescent appearance, but blends out clear. It has tiny shimmer particles which are barely visible when dispensed, and when applied. The shimmer helps illuminate the skin, but in a very subtle way. It is hydrating yet non greasy or oily, and dries quickly once applied. I found it gives a nice plumping effect to the skin overnight.
Loreal Youth Code Luminosity Serum:
This is white/pearlescent in appearance, which makes sense as it is an illuminating serum after all. It applies completely clear, with a luminous finish. It has much more shimmer than the other serum. Non greasy or oily, but not as hydrating in comparison to the other serum. I did not find it to have a plumping effect on the skin. It’s clear the focus of the product is mainly in clear, luminous skin, not much else.

Loreal Revitalift Laser X3 Serum: yes. I found it had a strong fragrance.
Loreal Youth Code Luminosity Serum: yes. A lighter but noticeable fragrance.

The final verdict

On first glance you wouldn’t see much of a visible difference between the two, but performance wise they couldn’t be more different. The Revitalift Laser X3 is clearly the anti-ageing option, compared to the Youth Code Luminosity which gives more of an immediate visible change than a physical one. Which one is right for you? That depends on what your after.

If you want luminous skin (with the help of shimmer/pearlescent pigments) then Youth Code is your baby. It’s difficult to tell if the long-term effects will make a real change in your pigmentation, but it immediately boosts illumination with its formula. Don’t expect the coverage of a foundation, it’s just a serum. If you’re looking for serious pigmentation treatment, you might like to try something else. I can see why it’s targeted to more youthful skin ages, as I found it didn’t give the plumping boost my skin needs. Applying it overnight made no real change to the texture of my skin, it only brightened it. I now use this most days, mixed with my other moisturisers and sunscreens for a little boost.

Now if you’re looking for a more anti-ageing effect, the Revitalift Laser X3 is more for you with its targeted ingredients. The tiny amount of shimmer doesn’t hurt to Boost your skin either. As for long-term effects, it’s too early to tell. But the immediate results are definitely worth trying. I loved its hydrating and plumping (there’s that fucking word again – plumping! Buy a thesaurus Kaye!) effect. Exactly what my skin at this stage of its life needs. I now apply this morning and night, and am happy to continue to use it.

Kaye – that was actually a really well written & useful review. Currently i’m indeed looking for a suiting serum. I would prefer to use it under my foundation or BB cream (or simply compact powder, depending on the well being of my skin). I don’t usually like the lifting effect ones, because i feel it’s fulls on my skin. (Do you knwo what i mean?)
I think i will have to try the Youth Code Luminosity Serum and see, if it fits my skin type.

I know exactly what you mean, picking the right serum can be incredibly tricky especially when they have to work with your current products. That’s why it took me so long to choose these two in the first place lol!
I think the Youth Code would look beautiful under a BB cream, as it is illuminating and gives you a fresh complexion. It’s also not heavy so it wont add that extra layer to your face. I’m crossing my fingers for you that it works for your skin type!
Hope your having a beautiful Easter lovely!! xx

Aww thank you WPP! I appreciate your feedback and I’m glad you liked it. It was tough deciding which to choose, so many brands each with multiple types of serums lol! I think I made a good choice in the end, and the bonus is I get to review them to help others 🙂

PS – your nail art/mani’s are to die for! I can’t tell you how often your posts come up in my FB news feed and I’ve gone off to attempt it myself, only to have it look like it was painted on by a flock of birds LOL! I love seeing your new posts, you are truly talented 😀

Hey! Nice comprehensive review I must say.
Actually I came over this article because my mother wanted to buy this cream. She is in her late 40s and she’d like to know whether this Revitalift actually works or not. I’d be thankful if you can tell me something about that

Hi Hira! My apologies for the delayed reply. As it just so happens, I also purchased the moisturiser for the Revitalift as well. It is working quite well and I am happy with the results. It is plumping and moisturising, but not overly greasy or heavy. As far as real results its too early to tell, but I am definitely happy. I no longer use the serum as I finished the bottle, but the moisturiser alone seems to work well. The fragrance is a little strong for me also, but not unbearable. I really hope this helped, good luck to your Mom with using it if she decides to! xx

You are most welcome Talia! I know the feeling all too well 🙂

I’m really glad this was helpful, I still find it difficult to make the right beauty choices at the best of times, it’s really nice to have reviews to refer too. They are my number one resource Xx

I liked the fragrance, and enjoyed the texture however it was too rich for my skin. Nicely presented but a bit time consuming getting the lid on and off.

Oh really? That is such a shame about the lid!
