I’ve been thinking a lot lately about our mega holiday, and before the blog (possibly) gets deathly quiet for the semester *tumbleweed*, I thought it would be funny to share one of my holiday adventures. Now, there are lots of do’s and don’t’s for travel, I’m sure we all know the deal. But for me there is really only one golden rule: don’t be a silly tourist.

How does one become a silly tourist, you ask? There’s many, many, ways to enter the club of The Vacationally Challenged. Climbing into wild animal enclosures or accepting money in exchange for ‘that extra kidney you don’t really need’, is probably at the top of the list. I haven’t done either of those things (as far as I know, there’s two kidneys in here!), but I did manage to land myself in hospital in the middle of my vacay once.

I thought I was so cool taking as many photos as I could, of myself jumping into the air. ‘Cause jumping is so cool. And then on one fine day in San Francisco we arrived at the Golden Gate Bridge lookout and I saw The Wall. It was THE perfect place to do it, and I’d look… you know… so cool. You can imagine how excited I was. Oh boy. I did the finger pyramid of evil. “Hellooo wall…”.

I climbed. I jumped. It was very high…

…and it turns out I don’t have the grace and elegance of a cat. I landed like a sack of potatoes. A silly sack of tourist potatoes and almost shattered my leg… aaaand of course my husband snapped a photo. The look on my face was absolutely ridiculous and I just can’t show it. Frankly I look like I’m taking a crap mid-air (that’s the top photo BTW, very cleverly disguised – no poop face here!). I spent the entire night in hospital crying like a baby. A big fat sooky-la-la baby! πŸ˜€

The Jump is now infamous in our family and I will never, ever, live it down. And rightly so. It’s a very valuable lesson learnt. (just watch, I bet there will be plenty of ‘jump shots’ for my next holiday… some people never learn). And now it’s your turn. I’d love to hear your vacation stories! Share them and let us all laugh at our silliness. Are you a silly tourist too?

Hahaha, it’s ok I totally deserved it lol! Looking back its hilarious, so I don’t mind at all. My husband and I were just talking the other day how we wanted to visit the other lookout from the bridge (the opposite side)… and he looked at me very serious and said, “now you’re not going to jump off anything are you??”.

HAHA! We couldn’t stop laughing. What a douche I am πŸ˜€

Hahhhahhha that was great and such fun post although I am sorry for your poor leg πŸ™ I’m, definitely not a silly tourist, on the opposite ac,tually, I don’t ev,n want to take photos cause I don’t like people looking what am I doing and I don’t want them to look me as a tourist.,.,..well lots of paranoias here πŸ˜€ But if I were to go on a vacay with my girlfriends all of that might change and I’d become the silliest of them all πŸ˜› The worst tourists are the ones that go to another cou, ntry and don’t ev,en speak english, they are such a nightmare (most italians do that :)) Take care, beautiful and have a great weekend!

I’m so sorry about your leg, but I have to admit this post was really funny. I think we have all done the famous “jump as high as I can” post when we’re having a really great time! If your family is anything like mine, you are NEVER going to live that one down. πŸ˜‰

I’m so glad you thought it was funny, it really really is!! It’s a really funny memory for everyone, even for me. And I just know when we arrive again at the lookout, everyone is going to remind me, HAHAHA. πŸ˜€
