Did you know you can create your own graphic designs with PicMonkey?
I’ve said it a thousand times, and I meant it. The simple online photo editor can be a powerful design and photo manipulation tool if you just know where to look. And as always, absolutely no Photoshop needed.

Skill level: all levels. Basic PicMonkey layout/functions know-how is helpful, but the rest is a complete breeze.

First, go to PicMonkey & log into your account. Then follow these steps:

1 – design tab > 5 x 7 > apply canvas colour (white)
2 – textures tab > clouds > 1st cloud texture (top row left), saturation 150%, fade 20% > apply
3 – textures tab > clouds > 2nd cloud texture (top row middle), saturation 100%, fade 20% > apply
3 – effects tab > burst, 80% > apply
4 – textures tab > bokeh > 4th bokeh texture (bottom row left), saturation 100%, fade 20% > apply
5 – overlays tab > geometric > triangle:

  • colour: 7a0098
  • blend mode: overlay
  • fade: 50%
  • (right-click) duplicate overlay > flip
  • re-size and re-position both to suit, creating a diamond shape

6 – overlays tab > geometric > square:

  • colour: 7a0098
  • blend mode: overlay
  • fade: 50%
  • resize and rotate to suit

7 – text tab > futura medium font > add text:

  • colour: white
  • size: header (65) medium (50) small (33)
  • centered

8 – overlays tab > brough > 1st brough (top), colour: white and 5c5c5c, fade 0% > apply, re-size and position
9 – save

Tip: chances are you will want to modify and experiment as you go. The undo/redo button will be your best friend for this. And always remember, you are creating from the bottom up, so start with backgrounds and move on to the next step only when you are happy with how it looks. This saves you from having to undo everything you have done to make changes.

Happy creating!
